Police Reserves

 

The Russellville Police Reserve Unit is compromised of individuals who are trained to supplement and assist full-time officers in police duties.  Reserve officers are volunteers who perform non-compensated police work under the supervision of a full-time officer.  Reserve officers work many different assignments, including; crime prevention, apprehension of suspects, traffic control, prisoner transport, and crime scene control.  Reserve officer are appointed by, and serve at the discretion of, the Chief of Police.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Reserve officers assist full-time officers in general police work and special details, attend quarterly reserve meetings, complete all required training, and work a minimum of 12 hours per month.  Additionally, reserves may be “called out” to major emergencies, crime scenes, prisoner transports, and natural disasters.

 

Upon completion of the Reserve Academy, Reserve Officers will be furnished one uniform shirt and pants.  Reserve Officer will be required to buy all other equipment.

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1) Have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.

2) Must be a United States Citizen.

3) Have an Alabama Drivers License.

4) Must be at least 20 years of age.

5) Have and maintain good mental and physical condition.

6) No criminal record.

7)Complete & maintain Russellville PD training standards.
